The Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control Service (CBC) confirms that one (1) male migrant was found in Spot Bay, Cayman Brac at approximately 7:00am today, Saturday, 30 September 2023.

The migrant claimed that he was on a vessel with nine (9) other migrants and all except him perished at sea when they tried to swim to Cayman Brac.

At approximately 12 noon today, a second male migrant was rescued by a private vessel from the waters off Cayman Brac and he is now at the Faith Hospital receiving medical treatment.

CBC is currently investigating this incident and will process the migrants in accordance with established CBC protocols.

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS), the Cayman Islands Coast Guard (CICG), and the Cayman Islands Fire Service (CIFS) are supporting CBC with this incident.
